Christmas is so near and we all want to spend it with the family. It is my favorite time of the year and I try to make it the best time for my family and friends as well. What is Christmas without a properly decorated house? We spend the winter holidays around the table in the living room, so this year I decided to renovate the living room and give it a new look.
When we decide to refurbish our house a question always arises – how much will that cost? It all depends on what you want to do with the living room. What I chose to do with the space is to paint the walls in a different color, change the floor tiles with laminate and put new furniture. The market is flooded with good deals around Christmas and according to me, this is the best time to shop.
The first thing I did was to call a professional builder to do the work. I agreed on a rate per job done and we started the project. The first day I left the builder and his workers to strip the living room and take the old furniture out. I did a garage sale as well and earned money from my old furniture for the renovation. Then I went to one of the big stores to choose paint for the walls and flooring. I decided that the walls will be painted in dark red and the floor will be of a light laminate. Once I purchased everything I needed, I delivered it to the builder and I was off again – this time to the furniture stores.
An important rule when choosing furniture for your living room is to remember that it should be comfortable. We all spend most of the day in the living room so comfort is a big priority. My living room is quite big so I have separated it into two – half is for sitting around the TV watching our favorite shows and half is for dining. So for that reason I chose a big round table made out of wood and six comfortable chairs. Considering I decided on dark colors in the room, my furniture will be very light. The couch I bought is very big, so my whole family will fit on it and of course very soft and comfortable. A nice coffee table I placed in front of it for when I gather with my girlfriends. I wasn’t meant to but I changed our TV as well. I saw one with promotion sign on it and couldn’t resist. After all my shopping, I went home to check on the progress. The builder assured me that it will take no more than a few days for the renovation and that I can enjoy my new room with my friends sooner than I was expecting.
